It's been rather dreary the last few days, and we're expecting about an inch of rain between today and tomorrow. But who can be dreary when looking at these swing coats from 1949?
"We celebrate the silk coat - the height of fashion and of luxury, the newest possession, almost the summer equivalent of mink. The cut is very big, completely covering a day-length dinner dress, making for much rustle and movement."
All three coats are by Traina-Norell. The solid black is silk faille and the polka dotted coats are silk taffeta. All three hats are by John Frederics. Photographed by Richard Avedon for Harper's Bazaar.
